Project overview
The client runs a counseling and wellness practice and needed a professional, clean website to represent their services online. Their existing presence was minimal and inconsistent, so I handled everything: from contract, onboarding, design, to coding, content layout, and site maintenance.
The site includes pages for About, Services, Resources, and Contact — clearly communicating the client's offerings, credentials, and contact information. I structured navigation for clarity and ease-of-use so prospective clients could find what they need quickly.

Client brief & challenges
The client needed a website that would:
- look professional and trustworthy (mental health / wellness context demands trust),
- clearly list services, therapist credentials, and contact information,
- be easy to update — for example, adding resources or changing service details without needing a developer,
- load quickly and remain accessible across devices, and
- comply with ethical disclaimers and informational transparency.
Because this was my first real client job, I also learned how to write a contract, manage revisions, and offer ongoing site maintenance — all part of delivering a polished, reliable final product.
Design & build process
1. Onboarding & planning
I started with a contract outlining scope, deliverables, and maintenance expectations. After approval, we discussed site structure — what pages were needed and what content existed vs. what had to be written.
2. Content & information architecture
I organized the site into logical sections: About, Services, Resources, Contact. For each service (therapies, coaching, neurofeedback, etc.) I made sure descriptions were clear and accessible. I also added disclaimers and contact details prominently to build trust. On the About page, I used the therapist’s bio to lend authority and personality to the brand. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}
3. Visual design & layout
The design emphasizes clarity and professionalism: a clean navigation bar, readable typography, and layout that guides a visitor’s eye from services to contact. I structured margins and spacing to avoid clutter — especially important for a mental health practice website where calm and readability matter.
4. Implementation & maintenance
I coded the site using semantic HTML, CSS, and minimal PHP for templating (header, footer, navigation). I also set up a simple content update workflow so the client can edit text without breaking layout. Over time I have updated, backed up, and maintained the site — handling content changes, layout tweaks, and performance upkeep as part of ongoing client support.
Outcome
Unity Health Solutions now has a professional, trustworthy web presence that accurately reflects their services, team credentials, and philosophy. The site is responsive, easy to navigate, and built for long-term maintenance. For me, this was a key first step into working with real clients — building trust, maintaining scope, and delivering a polished final product.
What I learned
This project taught me more than coding. I learned how to:
- Write and manage client contracts;
- Translate a practitioner’s needs into a clear, usable website structure;
- Create a maintainable site that the client can update without a developer;
- Balance professionalism, usability, and accessibility for a sensitive service domain;
- Manage ongoing client expectations and deliver long-term maintenance services.
